Oftentimes, feng shui believers treat the bathroom as a negative unit. They only see the bathroom as a place with properties that drain the "chi" from the house. In reality, a bathroom still has positive aspects about it. As with all feng shui, there is an opposite of everything and everything has a way to become balanced. If a bathroom is kept neat and orderly, well-kept, and well lit, it can balance out all the negative aspects in it.
The only problem with feng shui bathroom is that the Ba Gua, a measurement tool for feng shui, cannot be used inside this area. A bathroom is difficult to balance out, especially if it is situated above the kitchen or at the main entrance of the house since it has a draining effect
If a bathroom is situated near the main door, the negative elements of the bathroom will drive away the "chi" from the door before it even gets a chance to enter the house. As for bathrooms situated above kitchens, it will hamper the fire element of the kitchen because the bathroom’s main element is water.
A good way to counteract the negative effects of the bathroom near the main door is by hanging a mirror on the outer side of the bathroom door. This way the "chi" being drained will be deflected and will bounce back into the house. As for the bathroom situated above the kitchen, just keeping the toilet seat down when not in use is sufficient enough. For bathrooms located in the center of the house, placing a feng shui crystal or just having a ceramic bowl will suffice to keep the energy flow balanced.
Feng shui for bathrooms is considered as corrective feng shui. It is done to redirect the flow of "chi" into the house. You may not always need a feng shui expert just to correct the bathroom because the tips enumerated above are generally the same feng shui advice an expert would suggest. For people who plan to have a house built it, is better if an expert is consulted before proceeding with the actual process of building. This way the renovations and corrective measures using feng shui will rarely be needed.
